Your Healing Journey, Supported by Advanced, Compassionate Care
At Changes Counseling & Wellness Center, we know that every person’s healing path is unique and that sometimes, talk therapy alone isn’t enough to address the deep roots of trauma, anxiety, or stress.
That’s why our experienced clinicians are trained in a range of advanced,
evidence-based therapies that help your mind and body work together to heal.
Below, you’ll find an overview of these approaches so you can see what might fit you best and feel confident that you’re working with skilled, caring professionals who will walk with you each step of the way.
We offer specialized therapies at our Woodbury and Bloomington locations as well as online.

Our Specialized Therapies
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing)
What it is: EMDR is a well-researched, structured therapy that helps you process traumatic or distressing memories so they no longer feel overwhelming. During an EMDR session, your therapist will guide you to briefly revisit parts of a memory while using gentle bilateral stimulation (like eye movements or tapping) to help your brain reprocess and “unstick” painful material.
What it helps with: PTSD, anxiety, panic, childhood trauma, complicated grief.
Our expertise: Our EMDR clinicians have completed advanced training and receive ongoing
consultation to ensure you’re receiving the highest standard of care.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
What it is: IFS helps you explore the different “parts” of yourself- the protective parts, the exiled parts, the parts that may hold fear, shame, or anger. In IFS, all parts are welcome and none are bad. You will learn to connect with your core Self, the calm, compassionate leader within, to help your parts feel safe and heal.
What it helps with: Trauma, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, shame, relationship struggles.
Our expertise: Our therapists have completed formal IFS training and regularly consult with IFS experts to keep growing in this gentle, powerful approach.
Somatic Experiencing (SE)
What it is: Developed by Dr. Peter Levine, SE helps people understand how trauma can get stuck in the nervous system and the body. Instead of reliving the past, you learn to tune into body sensations in a safe, gradual way, allowing your nervous system to discharge tension and restore balance.
What it helps with: Chronic stress, complex PTSD, body-based trauma responses, dissociation.
Our expertise: Our SE providers have completed 3 years of intensive training and consultation. We know how to help you build safety and trust with your body, at your pace.
Anchored Relational Therapy (formerly AIR Network)
What it is: Anchored Relational Therapy is a trauma-informed model for complex trauma and dissociation. It focuses on helping you understand how your internal system and parts communicate, and how your nervous system responds to threat. It combines psychoeducation, parts work, and relational safety.
What it helps with: Complex PTSD, dissociation, developmental trauma.
Our expertise: Our clinicians trained in Anchored Relational are skilled at building trust with survivors of chronic, relational, or developmental trauma.
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)
What it is: ART uses rapid eye movements and guided visualization to help you rewrite distressing images or memories, often leading to relief in fewer sessions than traditional talk therapy alone. Unlike EMDR, ART uses more direct image rescripting.
What it helps with: Trauma, phobias, anxiety, depression.
Our expertise: Our ART-trained therapists combine this brief therapy model with deep trauma awareness and a gentle, client-centered approach.
Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR)
What it is: DBR is a newer, research-based trauma therapy that helps you process deep survival and attachment shock in the brainstem level which is often the root of symptoms that feel “stuck” even after other therapies.
What it helps with: Early attachment trauma, shock trauma, unprocessed grief.
Our expertise: Our DBR-trained clinicians bring this leading-edge method to clients seeking profound healing for developmental trauma.
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
What it is: ERP is the gold standard for treating OCD. It helps you gradually face the thoughts or situations that cause anxiety, while learning to resist the urge to do compulsive behaviors. Over time, this rewires your brain’s fear response.
What it helps with: Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), phobias, certain anxiety disorders.
Our expertise: Our ERP therapists use a collaborative, gentle approach- never forcing exposure work before you feel ready and supported.
